Golf swings of Professional golfers exhibit qualities of smoothness, rhythm, and precise timing. These qualities allow the Pros to consistently hit longer, straighter shots. Perfect tempo and timing is what lets the Pros build up power behind their shots, while maintaining accuracy.
A golf swing can be broken down into the three phases pictured above; the back swing, forward movement, and impact.The greatest golfers in the world have developed their swings so that each of these phases are performed in perfect tempo, every time.
There have been many products aimed at teaching this important skill to golfers. Metronomes, beepers, videos... have attempted to imbed swing tempo into the golfer, however all these methods share some common shortfalls:
- Prior products require the golfer to synchronize the beginning of their swing with the beginning of the swing sequence. If the golfer is slightly off in this synchronization, then the rest of the swing sequence will be off, rendering the practice useless. The TI trainer automatically detects the initial movement of the golfer's swing, and performs this synchronization for you!
- Prior products have no direct link to the golf swing. You either clip them to your belt, place them on the ground, or wear headphones. The TI club emits it's melody from the swing plane! This combination of feeling and hearing the club head in motion reinforces the tempo of the chosen swing.
- The sequences of prior tempo training products attempt to break the golf swing down into phases of equal time, or include pauses in the swing motion to denote the back swing and forward movement portions of the swing. - Finally, these previous products contain audio sequences with fully on and off tones. This promotes a stop-and-go cadence which hinders the the learning of a smooth, continuous swing.
